TARP's comp curbs could be extended to all businesses

<!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 <![endif]--><!-- -->At face value most people would agree with this article.  It speaks about controlling compensation packages for high-level executives at businesses and banks that are receiving bailout money.  I fully agree with this.  It is the American taxpayers who are funding these bailouts, and are thus now part owners.  We should have some say in how things are done, and one obvious point is that we don't want these head honchos getting bonuses for poor work that we are paying for.  However, as to the government possibly being able to cap the compensation of all U.S. corporations?   This should have everyone in an uproar.  If you want to be a socialist, move to a socialist country.  But if you want the American Dream and the freedom to work hard to reach the top without excessive government influence, you tell the government that within the constraints of the law my business will be run the way I want it run.  Not to mention this would discourage the big smart minds that compete for these high level positions from taking them on in the first place.  Why do the excessive work if you aren't going to be compensated for it?
