For most of you, your goal is investment success over time. Many money managers are not in the business of helping you meet the requirements of investment success. They concentrate their efforts on selecting common stocks or bonds based on a single style, such as growth or value, large cap or small cap, and high quality or junk bonds, without an ability to adapt.
At Anderson Griggs, we take a dynamic top-down approach based on our research of the capital markets. This quantitative research compares the potential returns of equity markets to the more secure returns available in fixed income markets.
This top-down research helps us guide your asset allocation, which we believe will determine up to 60% of your portfolio’s return. Once this basic decision of the amount of your portfolio to be allocated between common stocks, bonds, or cash is made, we then conduct additional quantitative research to address sub-sectors of the capital markets. This research compares the potential returns available from large companies to small companies, value to growth, and short-term fixed income to long-term fixed income, which are investment choices we believe will determine up to 20% of your portfolio’s return.
Finally, we work diligently with basic fundamental research on each individual security, which then become the building blocks of your portfolio. This work is time consuming and constant, and it is the fundamental work that will provide upwards of 20% of your returns. It is also the work that can provide the potential for the extra returns you are seeking.
Our team approach to research and portfolio design combines the expertise of individuals who have decades of experience with the opportunistic outlook of younger associates. Our daily meetings are full of learning, teaching, and adapting to new and exciting ideas, all with one purpose in mind: to provide you with the best independent portfolio management services available.
